1/20/2018 Monk Seal Dailies:

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Gayle and a quick update from Marilyn.

Gayle only find was 2 critters on Rabbit Island.

At 9:00 am Team Billand found Pohaku R028 at Paradise Cove. There were lots of people around, the hotline was called. Team Billand stuck around put up a couple of signs and advised folks to keep their distance. Volunteer arrived and Team Billand was off to find more seals.

At their next stop they spotted Kaale RH32 on the rocks alone. Suddenly there were cops and a helicopter over head, seems they were searching for a missing girl. We send our prayers they find her soon.

On the road again this time they found RW02 PvKauai resting alone. On their afternoon check he was still there.

Team Billand next find was little Miss Lei Ola. She was low on the rocks today resting. There were two guys who were leaving as they arrived. On their least check she was still there.
They spotted two seals, ID'd female as RL42 who seems to have some new markers on her lower butt. The second seal male ID'd as Ka'ena RO40 cookie scare on back, bleach on right side and line scares on head with a slight dot of bleach.

Last seal of the day for Team Billand was Buster RV08 after receiving a call. Lifeguards had set up zone and mentioned he had moved around noontime from one end of the beach to the other. Beach was crowded hotline was called.

Marilyn hiked to Ka'ena point from the west side today, and Lesley hiked from the north side. (awaiting Lesley's update). Marilyn came across Ka'ena and RL42. Marilyn's thought her wounds were new and possibly from mating. Marilyn also mentioned stopping and checking on Lei Ola. She did not include photos since Team Billand pretty has it covered.
