11/18/2017 Monk Seal Dailies (Part 2) Ka'ena Point - Ka'ena RO40, R353 and PVKauai RW02

Marilyn, Diane & I did the Ka'ena monitoring hike today.
At Hidden Beach we found RO40 "Ka'ena" - looks like he is getting ready to start his molt.
At the point we found R353 (F) on Back Beach and while we were checking on her RW02 "PVKauai" did his entrance to the Main Pool. He swam around and hauled out on the rock island center pool, vocalized a little then went to sleep.
There were trails of at least 2 overnighted seals on Back Beach, R353 was still there and the second one could have been RW02 but nothing to confirm that.
It was a beautiful day. The albatross were settled down near bushes very quiet.
The Billands let us know they saw whales heading to the West side but weren't lucky to see any yet.
