11/12/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: Right Spot (R016), Kea (RN46), Kahulu (RJ16), Holokai (RG40), Kaimana (RJ58), Lei Ola (RN48), Kekoa Alii (RK72), RN14, Ka'ale (RH32) and RL42

Today's dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Lesley, Team Billand, Gayle, and Vicki.  Lesley's photos are included in part 2.  Glad it was a sunny day today.

Marilyn did the Ka'ena Point Trek with Lesley today, they came across RN58 Luana and RO40 Ka'ena. The Laysan Alabatross are starting to arrive at Ka'ena Point.  On Marilyn's way back from Ka'ena Point she stopped by Halona Blowhole Cove and found RN46 Kea snoozing in the cove. He was in the same spot as yesterday. He's an easy one to ID because of those big beautiful natural bleach marks.  And once again (deja vu) from the Blowhole Marilyn could see a seal at Sandy Beach by the sewer outfall and that an SRA had been erected and a volunteer was on duty. Marilyn did stop by and confirmed R016 Right Spot.

Our posse pal Vicki was on the North Shore, on her first stop she found Kahulu RJ16 and Holokai RG40 together. A little later she came across Kaimana RJ58, this little girl seems to get around.

Team Billand started their day at Maili, where they found Lei Ola RN48, Kekoa Alii RK72, RN14, and RH32 Ka'ale.  Lei Ola was way to the right side, alone, resting comfortably, none of the boys bothered her at all today. She still has her hook and they called NOAA to update.

RN14 was hauling in on the lower rocks with Kekoa RK72 and both remained in one spot all day. Kekoa molt continues

RH32 Ka'ale was seen doing 6 to 7 minute dives off shore of Maili. at 9:15am he finally landed to the right and remained in the area for the day. He has a beautiful new silver coat, nice girth, healthy and handsome.

Team Billand found RL42 at Makua Cliffs, she came in on the rocks with the waves.  She is looking good and plump. They did notice a new marker on her chest near her left for flipper. ( long line)
She was resting, content and no one was bothering her.

Gayle checked in on the east side critters late this afternoon. She saw one Rabbit Island Critter. Kea was still at the blowhole at 17:15. Checking on Right Spot she left the beach at 18:10.  Thank you Gayle.
