9/16/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: Rabbit Island Critters, Rip, Holokai, RJ16 and Kauai Kolohe

Today's Dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Gayle, Vicki and Marilyn.  Interesting turn of sightings today, in that a Lesley text brought word the seal party at birth beach has ended.

Team Billand's only find today was RIP RE70 at 10:15 pm. They checked early this morning for Pohaku and came up empty. At secret's they found fresh wallows of two seals but no sightings.

Gayle found four critters on Rabbit Island today, two young'ens and two larger critters. She (and I) are hoping the 2 young'ens are Aka and RJ30.
Gayle also mentioned Kawena is due for a molt and hoping she is one of the 4.  There were two humans on the island, DOCARE was called and responded! Good job!

Vicki was at Turtle Bay and found Holokai RG40 and RJ16 were both at the keiki pool but no interaction between the two of them.  She later witnessed RJ16 in the water fishing.

Vicki also found an adult male at Mokuliea at birth beach tag 4DI, I'm going to guess it was RK36 Kauai Kolohe tagged 4DJ.

Mrs. Whisper decided to check out Turtle Bay instead of the usual Ka'ena Point Trek today. When she first arrived she went to the Keiki pool and out to Kahuku Point and found not one critter.  On the way back at 8:55 am she found two seals about as far apart as they could be. Youngest weaner RJ16 and RG40 Holokai (brothers) were at the same location, but not terribly interested in each other.
Holokai is pretty green and probably will molt soon... we hope...
