1/1/2015 DB's Dailies: Buster,Aukai,Kainoa&RM38@RI, Pohaku&Haupu@Paradise Cove, RIP@White Plains, Kolohe&Maili Pt

It was the usual New Year’s Day sunrise hordes covering every inch of beach front in the SE quadrant this morning making the usual checks impossible, but we were creative and got everything done. Unfortunately, there was no sunrise, nor were there any critters. Thanks to M&M (Marilyn & Melanie) for trekking the routes.

At 0658 we found a molting Buster (RV08) (D#1, 1%) , 40 ft left of 1BS, and Aukai (RL12) fronting 1BS, on Rabbit Island. When I got back to Makai Pier at 0928, I that Kainoa (RN04) was now with Buster at the left end, and RM38 was now at Seal Rock Inlet. The RI cast was to be the only critters in this quadrant today.

Dana checked in at 1120 with a Benny update from David Schofield. No new info. Benny continues his recovery.

At 0732 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Paradise Cove.

At 1030 their WP posse member Rich, reported a swimming head at WP. They Billands found RIP (RR70 ) at #1707.

The Billands advised that Volunteer Jean called at 1245 advising of Haupu (RB24) at Paradise Cove.

At 1430 Team Billand found Kolohe (RW22) at Maili Point.

The Donna forwarded a shot from the Mokes today. Somebody was there, but the ID was inconclusive.

Kelly Girl sent photos of an U/F at Haleiwa today. The ID was inconclusive. (good to hear from you KG)

Ken Tingman sent shots from his Ka’ena Point trek today. He found Ka’ena (RO40) & RK36 at the point, and Luana (RN58) at Hidden Beach.

Wow 5,000 posts.
I would like to wish all the volunteers and Monk Seals a Happy New Year.

And even though I'm not there I am always there in spirit.
It's amazing how fast you guys get the word out and find a Monk Seal in need. wow I guess Benny wanted to do something different to end the year. Get better soon Benny, I can't wait to see what you will be up to this year.
