Happy Seal Count Day !!! I hope all participants had productive zones.

At 0600 I found an overnighted Kea (RN46) snoozin’ in the Naupaka ,at Sandy Beach, as has been the case of late. He would move down and depart at 0749, swimming off to the west. Marilyn called at 1045 . She and her team , Gina,Jane & Lisa, had found Kea once again on the outfall at Sandy Beach. When I arrived at 1057 we cordoned him off. He remains.

When I got to Makai Pier at 0846 I found Duke (RA12) & Kainoa (RN04) together on the left end rocks on Rabbit Island. Kolohe RW22) was on the beach front incline, 40 ft left of 1BS, and Buster (RV08) was on the water front rocks at Rocky Right Beach. Kolohe would relocate to join Duke & Kainoa at 0937. All remained the day.

At 0934 Marilyn called with the report of Kaiwi (RK96) at China Walls. Melanie would report her gone at 1455. Marilyn, Jane,Lisa & Gina stopped at the pier to check the RI cast. That made a SE Quadrant total of 6 critters, for Marilyn & crew.

I heard almost no reports from the rest of the island, except that Team Billand called at 0933 reporting that they were following 2 foragers. At 1023 they reported that one of them turned out to be Haupu (RB24) who hauled out to Nimitz Cove . The other one disappeared. Jean & Bev were with her also. The Billands reported her gone at 1300.

At 1000 Dana called to advise that R5AY had been reported at Kahaku Golf Course, and that Tony Q., had reported a 100% molted Right Spot (R016) at MCBH.

Dana forwarded photos from Larry Stamey & Jean Compton’s Ka’ena Point trek today. The shots show RK36 sporting a brand new Cookie Cutter wound, and Ka’ena (RO40) hangin’ out with a shiny and new coated young girl, BG (R303).

Jason O’Rourke did Ka’ena Point from the Waianae side, and found Nihoa (R912) half way in, and RK36 and his new CC wound at the point.
