Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:44 am to 1:53 pm and there were three seals seen during that time.
About 50 feet Makapuu of the 1BS was RK24 Bruno: adult size, gray male belly, two red tags. lower lip scar. Marilyn only saw his ventral and left side. His N33 bleach was applied to his right side, so we have to wait to see if the bleach worked.
Between 3BS and SRI were two seals:
RQ32: small adult or large sub-adult size, light female belly, scar on right side of face, no info on tags. Her applied N bleach was on her left hip.
N32: adult size, medium gray coat, male and N32 applied bleach readable on the seals right side, blurry with backward N on left side. Hopefully NOAA can get an ID on this seal from the photos they took yesterday.
Team R&B thought they were going to have another slow day, until they spotted a seal hurrying onto the area, then they lost sight of it. They hung out for an hour and finally they noticed the seal landing at rest-camp side by the cabins. They were able to ID Nalu R3CX.
Once again they spotted three seals foraging at the outfall area. There were a couple of surfers out there as well. Team R&B were able to ID one of the seals as Lei Ola RH48. One of the seals was an adult with a scar on the left side of its face. The seal was reported as an Unknown Adult. The last one they saw was also an adult with a clean coat, not sure about tags. Also reported as an Unknown Adult.
Next they decided to check out plains and was happy to find a seal on shore. Resting in a zone alone was the royal lady RL12 Aukai. Whilewatching over Aukai Team R&B saw a Sandpiper land on shore.
Their last critter of the day was a handsome male, no tags, clean coat in excellent condition. They certainly have a sense of humor.
