Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:45 to 1:30 pm and there were three seals seen during that time.
On the 2BS side of Middle Cliff was a Juvenile Male: juvenile size, older coat, yellow-gold male belly and two red tags. Marilyn decided it was a juvenile rather than a weaner because of its longer, thinner size.
Near the SRI channel were two seals:
RQ44 Mahina: sub-adult to adult size, old coat, green brown female belly and three red tags. Marilyn thinks she may be starting her molt, less than 5% new fur on her leftmiddle chest.
Next to RQ44 was a Unknown Weaner: weaner size and shape, two tags, no info on sex because Marilyn never got a look at its ventral.
Team R&B first saw three seals foraging at the outfall area. They didn't have a lot of time to make the IDs.
One they were able to easily ID as RL08 who was very busy filling his belly. It was a little worrisome that there were some fishers out there with big poles, lures with live bait. The other two seals were clean coats adult size but they couldn't confirm any IDs.
Over at pokai they spotted a seal with the help of their very special assistants today. Junior sealette spotted Kala RH76 snoozing alone at her zen pond.
They got to the rest camp area later than usual and the place was packed. The tide was high making it a little harder to spot the seals. But persistence paid off with a little help from the junior crew. They once again spotted the dynamic duo RH48 Lei Ola and R3CX Nalu foraging.
