Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:17 to 2:12 pm and there were three seals seen during that time.
In the middle of LPB was molting RK24 Bruno: adult size, about 90% molted, male belly, two red tags and scar on right rear side.
Between 3BS and SRI was an Adult Male: smaller adult size, dorsal older coat, male belly, about 40% molted, two red tags. Marilyn thinks this might be R7AF.
At 12:49 pm, a Juevnile Male hauled out on the rock flats Makapuu side of the SRI channel: juvenile size, new coat. light male belly and two red tags.
Tammy and Dave are visiting the Big Island this week. Of course they were out looking for seals for a couple of days. Finally today they found two! First find was R8HE: a big female. well then again all the seals are big there. She has been seen on Oahu in the past.
Another seal just hauled out as they were leaving. It was R415 a male from 2020, who they have seen on previous visits to the Big Island.
Team R&B started their day over at Pokai. Their first find was RL12 Aukai alone foraging. She was near the jetty area.
Then they spotted another seal rushing into the area. This seal's coat was a mess, it was R3CX Nalu still molting and filling his belly.
Then over by the rest camp area they spotted another seal foraging. They were happy to see Miss Lei Ola RH48. While watching her they heard some folks yelling "look da bird" ! It was their Boobie Buddy and he was fishing too.
Off by tracks they saw an adult seal with lots of green. They couldn'tget a good pic of it, which is frustrating. They have seen this seal in the area for a few day, they keep hoping to get a good enough photo to maybe make an ID.
Team R&B decided to stop by Makaha area walkd out. They were glad they did because R3CX was on shore and still molting. They would guess he's about 70% done, and the swimming probably helps.
Off to the right they were thrilled to see little Wakea RP28. They mentioned the area is full of poop, from the seals, dogs and probably people too. Shame! But it didn't matter RP28 brightened their day.
