October 20, 2025 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:40 to 2:!5 pm and there were four seals seen during that time.
Initially alone was Adult Male 1: smaller adult size, old coat with a fair amount of green, green male belly and two red tags.
At 1:03 pm, RQ44 hauled out near AM1 and they moved around a fair amount. RQ44: sub-adult size, new coat, light to medium gray female belly and three red tags.
Above the SRI  channel was Adult Male 2: large adult size, old coat with lots of fur ready to fall off, about 20-30% molted, male belly, two red tags. This might be RK24.
Out on RRB was a Juvenile Male: larger juvenile size, new coat, light male belly and two red tags. He moved clear up to the cliff and had his head in a small cave. HE later returned to near the RRB channel.

Team R&B first find was Miss Kala RH76. She was on shore and alone. She stayed all day, went around the corner and then moved back to her spot. Later in the afternoon she left.  It appears Kala has
gained lots of weight and many scars.
Team R&B shared a beautiful picture of a native flower you don't get to see everyday.

Out by rest camp they spotted RH48 Lei Ola foraging. Then they saw another seal which turned out to be RG32, ID'd by the scar on his head. He kept chasing after Lei Ola. She kept swimming trying to out run him.
Then there was poor R3CX Nalu, molting, looking like a mess, but still out there foraging. He for sure is moving a lot slower.

At Kahe they spotted a seal moving pretty quickly. They could see it was RH32 Kaale who was heading to the outfall area.  The fishers had big poles out and were using a large green float to float the line out.
Team R&B saw another seal, but couldn't get an ID other than it had a clean coat.

From afar they saw a seal onshore at Makaha.  Then they saw two more seals so they made their way over.  The two seals together were
R3CX Nalu with RG32.  Nalu appears to be about 45% molted.
Further down was a seal alone. They went and were thrilled to see it was Lei Ola RH48. She is HUGE!! No wonder with all that foraging.  There were a couple of people sitting close by, but thankfully Lei Ola stayed and got some rest.
