October 2, 2025 (part 2) Rabbit Island

Here is Marilyn's Update:

\I viewed Rabbit Island from Makai Pier from 12:28 to 2:46 pm. It was generally sunny with some passing clouds and light winds.

There were five HMS seen on Rabbit Island during my viewing session. There was lots of moving around and relocating for today's seals.

On the edge of the berm at LPB were two seals:

Juvenile Male (JM): larger juvenile size, older coat with some green on the ventral, and two tags.

Unknown Unknown (UU): initially hidden behind the JM: probably weaner to juvenile size, light ventral; not sure about sex or tags.

Between 3BS and SRI was a Weaner Male (WM): weaner size, light male belly, and two red tags.

Adult Female 1 (AF1): small adult size, older coat with green ventral and two to three red tags. I only briefly saw three tags but got no photos. If there were really three tags, this might be RQ44 Mahina who was born in 2022. If so, then she is actually a sub-adult female. She started out at SRI, then galumphed over to the WM. They then entered the water at 1:18 pm. At 1:51 pm, AF1 and WM hauled out on the 1BS side of LPB. Then the pair moved into the depression behind the berm and moved toward the JM and UU. Then the WM
and AF1 entered the LPB channel separately. The WM then hauled out on the back Lanikai side of LPB. Then he re-entered the water.

Not long after I started viewing, Adult Female 2 (AF2) hauled out near the WM but moved up and away from him. The AF2 was large adult size, light to medium-gray female belly and two red tags. At 2:36 pm, the WM who had left LPB hauled out to the AF2.

Are you confused? I am.
