March 31, 2025 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 2:53 to 4:04 pm and there were four seals seen during that time, all appearing to be sub-adults.
Alone near the 1BS was an Unknown Sub-adult: sub-adult size, two red tags, not sure about sex because its ventral wasn't visible.
Alone near 2BS was Sub-adult Female 1: sub-adult size, light yellow female belly, and two red tags. She started to move up the beach but saw a Noddy Tern which seemed to frighten her. She went into the water about 3:30 pm
Between 3BS and SRI were two seals:
Sub-adult Female 2: sub-adult size, old coat, somewhat green female belly and two red tags. She also has dark rings around her eyes.
Near SF2 was Sub-adult Female 3: sub-adult size, light tan female belly and two red tags. SF3 seemed perturbed by SF2 and they both went into the water about 3:25 pm.
There were two spear-fishers who had been snorkeling along the 3BS area and one of the moved up onto the beach. He seem to be angry at the seals in the water. Marilyn was concerned but thankfully the seals took off.

Team R&B started their day at pokai and initially they didn't see anything. Eventually the dolphins showed up and performed with some great jumps.
Then they spotted Nalu R3CX foraging by the jetty. He did not land while they were there.
Team R&B spent quite awhile searching the area looking around for any other critters hoping to see their little buddy RP28. They heard a sneeze, and there he was well hidden in the rocks. If he hadn't sneezed they would have never had known.

Meanwhile at the outfall there were multiple seals out there fighting. They couldn't tell who was who in that there was lots of movement.
Later they spotted RP30 Puka on the rocks alone. He seemed alert like there was someone or something close by.  Later in the afternoon he was seen resting on the outer rocks.

March 30, 2025 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:20 to 1:40 pm and there were two seals seen during that time.
On the rock flats Lanikai side of SRI, were two seals. They entered the water shortly after Marilyn started viewing.  She saw they were playing off shore for almost an hour before they headed in the Makapuu direction and disappeared.
They were reported at UU 1: adult size, unsure about anything else. UU 2: probably sub-adult size, with light green ventral.

Team R&B started their day at pokai, but this morning was different in that there wasn't much at action.
Nalu R3CX was foraging, he wasn't showing up as he normally does. There were boats & kayaks that passed so he stayed low. Team R&B could hardly see any schools of fish that are normally there..
They spotted a second seal and then it was gone.  But they heard a bellow and the seal was hauling out. They were happy to see RP28 Wakea.  A fisher was right where he coming in, and let him know he was coming up with a loud bark. This startled the fisher who just stood there, then finally moved away.
RP28 Wakea mouthed the seaweed again, being a silly kid. He moved into the rocks hiding himself only to be visible to Team R&B.

At Kahe they found RP30 Puka alone on the rocks. He made his was into the shallow pond with his butt up in the air, and his head in the water. Later he hauled up to the left rocks and went to sleep.

At the outfall they saw four seals, all fighting among the snorkelers and swimmers.
They were able to ID R407 from his eye scar, natural bleach on the left side, no tags and cc scar.  One of the other seals had tags, but they couldn't tell much more than that.

Walking back over to Kahe they suddenly saw a seal coming through all the snorkelers. The seal hauled up on the rocks, and that's when they recognized him. It was Kekoa Alii RL72. he looked a little trimmer and lots of scratches, but overall okay.

March 29, 2025 Saturday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

It was another great morning observing multiple seals out in the water. They were able to ID RL20 Kalua foraging, which they watched for hours. The bugga never hauled out.
Then there was the fierce forager, Nalu R3CX. He also never hauled out for them today.  While watching him they saw one of the boats get really close to him.
They were thrilled to see little cutie RP28 Wakea. He brings them
much joy and they are enjoying every minute they have with him. He was the only one that hauled out today.  He was out on the rocks. When he landed he tossed the seaweed around, then hid to take his nap.
Along with the seals there were lots of dolphins that entered the area at the bay. To all the folks in the canoes they were delighted.  The lifeguards were good at warning the boats to keep their distance.

At the outfall they spotted two seals foraging, with snorkelers and divers near by.
One seal was huge, like a pregnant female, clean coat. But they couldn't get a positive ID.
The other seal with a green coat, following the larger seal around.  They didn't make an ID so both were reported as Unknown Adults.

Lastly they headed out to Nimitz and were happy to find one seal. It was R407 Kawika snoozing out on the reef.
