October 20, 2023 FRiday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:30 to 2:10 and there were a total of six seals on island during that time. Seems the word is out to the Oahu seals that Rabbit Island is the place to be!
There were four seals lined up from the 1BS along the beach towards the 2BS.
Almost directly down from the 1BS was a Female Weaner: weaner
size, very light female belly and two red tags. Who knows if it's RS12 or RS34?
Not too far from her was an Adult Male 1 : large adult size, old coat, dark gray-brown male belly and two red tags.
About 20 feet further towards 2BS was Adult Male 2 : adult size, old coat, brownish-golden male belly and two red tags.
Another 20 feet away was RK24 Bruno/Wawamalu, small adult size, new coat, light gray male belly, two red tags and a scar on lower lip.
Among the waterfront rocks in the Middle Cliff area were two seals:
Unknown Subadult: subadult size, new coat, two red tags, unsure about sex. This seal has a scar on the mid right size. This seal was awkwardly draped across the rocks for part of Marilyn's viewing session. The seal eventually moved further down.
Subadult Male: subadult size, old coat, yellow male belly with some green and two red tags. He moved up behind the Unknown Subadult for awhile and then moved back down to the unknown.

Team R&B started at the outfall and found RL20 Kalua. He was out
there stealing lots of fish from the fishers. There were a few that had some colorful words for RL20, but all in all the guys were okay.
Then they noticed a "new" boat just off the jetty and based on the engine power it must go really really fast. The boat was near the bait ball scaring the fish away, needless to say the fishermen were not happy. To add to the unhappiness there was a seal, who was RL20 following  and swimming along side it.
Off the outfall they saw another green seal foraging but they weren't able to make an ID.  Finally the seal landed at the rocks and I will give you three guesses...... RH32 Kaale, the master fish thief.  Kaale was very vocal, as he was tossed about by a big wave. He tried to hang on but in the end, he left the area.

Lastly Team R&B got a late call of a baby seal at White Plains. According to the lifeguard it was the smallest seal to arrive there.
Although it was late and they were tired, they had to go and see who it was.
When they arrived there were lots of people out, surfing, swimming and one little green seal onshore in a protection zone. It took them a while to get an ID, as they didn't recognize the little green seal. Then they saw a roto tag with the number 72. So they got on the phone and called the posse, and the meeting of the seal minds they got an ID.
Marilyn knew exactly who it was, Mahina RQ44 born in 2022 to Aukai RL12 on Rabbit Island! What a nice surprise, and she was a superstar on the beach today. Thankfully all were respectful!  In the end they saw her N1 applied bleach which is now very green!
