Feb 23, 2023 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕.  I just want to take a sec to wish Junior Sealette and Baby Brother a very Happy Birthday! 🍧

Starting their day at a west side location they found one seal. There was RK72 Kekoa Alii on the rocks at seal inlet. He was alone resting peacefully this morning.

They received a call about four seals on shore and lots of people hanging around them.  They headed over to secrets and when they arrived the seals were gone. Seems people ran them off and they were seen way out off shore fighting with each other. Team R&B took down the signs and waited. There were lots of folks walking around the shore, Team R&B had let them know there were seals in the area that may come in.
Sure enough one by one the four of them hauled in. First was RL08, next to him was RG28 Lefty. Team
R&B put the signs up again and got the people to more back for safety.
Next came R3CX Nalu who decided to haul up across from the usual spot.
A little bit later came RH32 Kaale hauled up near the entrance rocks. Lots of seals and tons of people. They called the hotline twice, and unfortunately no one arrived. They stayed educating the tourist, talked about the seals that were there.  Eventually Team R&B left not knowing if any volunteer arrived.

They stopped off at the bay and watched the area. They saw there were some homeless guys around so they waited for a bit. Then they spotted a seal in the rocks very well hidden. Once the guys left they went to look and found RH76 Kala. She appears to be getting larger.

Last stop at the cliffs they saw a tannish seal snoozing between the rocks. People were gathered so they just watched for whales and the boats. Finally when folks left they went to look. But the bugga did such a good job hiding they had nothing to work with. Seal was reported as an Unknown U/U.
Then they spotted RP30 Puka sleeping on the rocks not far from the U/U. He looked so peaceful and always cutie.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:10 to 2:55 and there were five seals on island today. Marilyn
labeled them by number since viewing conditions were not ideal and the seals did not cooperate by moving around.
On the Lanikai side of LPB was Seal 1: adult male, adult size, darker coat, dark gray male belly, not sure about tags.
On the Makapuu side of 1BS was Seal 2: subadult male, subadult size, light male belly and possibly two red tags.
Up in the dunes near 1BS was Seal 3: adult female, adult size, light female belly, two red tags. There may be a natural bleach on lower left side, and that would suggest RK37 Huia.
Between Middle Cliff and 3BS was Seal 4: unknown subadult, subadult size, lighter ventral, unsure of sex or tags.
About 30 feet Lanikai side of 3BS was Seal 5: adult size, unsure of sex or tags. This seal moved down for a while behind waterfront rocks and then disappeared completely.  Then at 12:55 this seal showed up at LPB near Seal 1.
Then Seal 5 galumphed over to the location of Seal 3. Then Seals 3 and 5 moved down to the waterfront near Seal 2 briefly. Then Seals 2, 3 and 5 moved back up.  Confused? well it was confusing for sure.
