Feb 16, 2023 Thursday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:45 to 12:35 and there were five seals during her observation.
Almost directly down from the 1BS was a seal that she believes is RK24 Bruno: subadult to adult size, light male belly, scar on lower lip and another scar on right rear side.
About 40 feet Makapuu side of the 1BS among the waterfront was an Unknown Adult: adult size, dark coat and unknown gender or if there were tags.
About 20 feet further from the UA was an Unknown Subadult: subadult size, light ventral side,
unknown gender of if there were tags.
Down from the 3BS was an Unknown Unknown: subadult to adult size. light upper chest area, not sure about gender or tags.
About 50 feet further Makapuu from the 3BS was a Juvenile Male: juvenile size, light male belly and unsure about tags.

Team R&B was scanning the areas and from afar they spotted a seal hauling up. It was R604 returning to where she has been for the last few days. She was resting when they spotted a black dog with a collar running to the seal. They were too far away to do anything other than call the hotline and forward them photos.
The dog went around the seal barking at R604 from behind, she woke up and started barking back at the dog. The dog moved closer and closer, R604 rolled over and over to get away, slapping her flippers and posturing.  The dog kept at her and then she finally turned and scurried off into the water.  They waited an hour to see if she would return, but she did not.
It was bad enough for the dog to chase R604 off, but then they saw a jeep driving around on the beach. They called HPD and was put on hold, and ended up hanging up.
Just before leaving the area they noticed three seals fighting just off the beach at tracks. They couldn't make any IDs but they all looked to be adults.

Team R&B were at an appointment when they got a call of three seals at Secrets. The tourist were
walking close to them and the seals were reacting to them by barking and growling. Someone had put up some signs.
When they arrived RL08 was on they way up by the bushes. RK72 Kekoa Alii and RL12 Aukai were on shore together.
Later, all three ended up close together snoozing with each other. They called hotline and no one arrived while they were there. Finally at 1:00 they called again and was told a volunteer was on their way so they left.

They decided to check out paradise cove and found a zone set up with a volunteer on site.  There was RG28 Lefty on shore down by the Luau side.

At another west side location they found RP30 Puka. He was alone at seal inlet. They also spotted R3CU alone on lower rocks.
