October 11, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

Team Billand found Pohaku RO28 at KoOlina today and now her molt is about 90%.  They called the hotline and updated.
They stayed and educated those who ventured out in the heavy rains.
Pohaku was laying by where the flood came right through the area, making a rived that knocked down the signs that had been up. Team Billand retrieved the signs, and called security. They put the signs back up together.  R+obert stayed with Pohaku, there were no
volunteers. Barb went to check on another seal a little further away.

There was RH92 Nalani and foks heading over to her, so Barb hurried and there were no signs, no ropes available.  She spent time educating all the folks who stopped by. Turns out there was one gentleman who was excited and concerned that the "seal lion" was in need of help. He was on the phone trying to call "people" to help push the seal back in the water. Barbara assured him the seal was fine, but he wasn't convinced, after a while he left.
There were no signs available just orange cones, which were useless people were just walking past the cones.
Barbara left Nalani RH92 at 9:45 am. Although this isn't a great location, this is far better than the one by the construction site.

Next stop for Team Billand on the westside they found RG28 Lefty sleeping on the rocks next to RN14 Kalani. Kalani looks fat and healthy.
On the lower rocks was RK72 Kekoa Alii who was also snoozing.
All three seals looked healthy, no new injuries seen on any of them.  Kekoa is still very green, so is Kalani, both in need of a molt.

A little later they spot Benny RE74 in his play boy pond, snoozing and staying pretty much in the same position the entire visit. Benny is also looking very green.

Then there was Kawena RH36 on the rocks snoozing next to Kekoa Alii RK72.  Kawena was clean with her nice new coat and tags showing. She has grown up so fast, her girth nice and robust. There was no interaction while they were there.

Then after 3 Team Billand found little RL20 Kalua hidden between the rocks. They were thrilled to find this little treasure alive and well.  They took a couple of pictures and left to keep her from being discovered.
