12/7/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: Pohaku RO28, Rabbit Island Critters, Ka'ena RO40

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Gayle, and Team T&D.  Although the morning started off chilly and turned out to be a beautiful day, glad you folks were out there to enjoy it.

Team Billand's only find today was at 7:20 am White Plains. They found Pohaku RO28 near tower 2, where they put up a "zone" and called the hotline.  They spent time educating folks who stopped by giving them the monk seal 101. Pohaku was bone dry and in a deep sleep.  Team Billand had an opportunity to educate the lifeguard about Pohaku and he in turn shared his learned info with the beach goers. AND my friends THIS is what it's all about. A volunteer arrived at 10:00 am and Team Billand departed at 10:30 am.


Gayle sent two photos of Rabbit Island, one photo has three seals and was taken in the morning. The second photo taken after lunch has four critters. 

Team Tammy and Dave did the Ka'ena Point trek and their only find was Ka'ena RO40. Tammy said it well "what a difference a day makes". Lesley hit the seal jackpot yesterday with six seals out there.
