12/12/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: R5AY Honey Girl, Rabbit Island Critters, RO16 Right Spot, RO28 Pohaku, RL42, R70 RIP & RW02 PVKauai

Today's dailies are brought to you by Posse Pal Vicki, Gayle and Team Billand.

Posse Pal Vicki was out and about today and got lucky finding R5AY "Honey Girl" on the beach in Hauula.  ALWAYS happy to see Honey Girl as she has given us so many wonderful offspring and grand kids. Vicki also made her way to visit me today at the shop, and she brought a wonderful selection of monk seal gift items. We have magnets, mints and a few handmade ornaments.  Thank you Vicki, you are so talented and generous!

Gayle saw three critters on Rabbit Island today. She can't say 100% but had a strong feeling one of them might be Buster V08. Buster is due to molt and one of the critters looks like it's neck area is bald.
Gayle went out to Alan Davis this afternoon on a tip from someone. She spotted a seal between the rocks, it took her a few minutes to get an ID given the position, but lo and behold she flipped over and it was Right Spot R016. A volunteer showed up and they stayed with Right Spot until 18:10.

Team Billand was out at Plains this morning at 7:25 am and spotted Pohaku RO28. Hotline was called and informed. Team Billand spent some time talking and educating the folks staying at the cabins. Team Billand left the site and Pohaku departed at 11:15.

While Team Billand was in Kapolei, they received a call a seal just hauled up in Makaha. At 2: pm they rushed out and it was RL42 on shore fronting Mr. Maldonado's house. He was sitting on the wall watching over her until they arrived. It took a while but Team Billand hot the tag shot.  Hotline was called and informed. A volunteer arrived at 4 pm and Team Billand left at 4:15 pm.

Team Billand last stop was Maili where they found two seals about a hundred feet apart on the rocks.
At 4:29 Team Billand found RIP RR70 snoozing alone on the lower rocks. It took a while to get his tag shot and ID, but patience paid off. RIP is looking great, healthy and has gained more weight.
The other seal was 100 ft to the right on the rocks. He finally turned over to see his markers on his neck, the funny scar on his right eye. They ID'd RW02 PVKauai, he looks healthy with his brand new coat.
