12/9/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: Hokulea @ Pokai Bay, Two Rabbit Island Critters, and Buster

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Gayle, Marilyn and Lesley.  Lesley provided a full report of Ka'ena Point trek, which I included in part 2.

Team Billand had an unusual but most interesting day. They searched for seals and came up empty, but while on their search they came across the Hokulea off of Nimitz, Campbells, Kahe, Maili, Waianae to Pokai Bay.  At Pokai Bay they watched all the people gather to enjoy seeing the HoKulea, Hikianalia, and Kainoauli coming in.  Team Billand had to leave before the Hokulea landed in the bay.  Team Billand returned after their appointment and much to their delight there was all three vessels on shore, up close and personal !

Gayle checked Rabbit Island this morning and spotted one seal. She did a recheck when she got to Kaupo at 14:00 she spotted two critters together. Possible one hauled up later or was just out of sight.
Gayle also found Buster at Sandy Beach and apparently he came in last night and snoozed based on his trail. She found him closer to the water and she thought he would be leaving, but that was not Buster's plan. By days end he moved back to the trail where he settled in for the evening. Gayle left him at 18:05.
