10/8/2016 DB's Dailies:

Arrived at Makai Pier at 0730 but it would be 0830 before the first critter hauled out. Unfortunately, it would be another A/M , Unknown. He had an old coat on, and I never saw tags. Maybe tomorrow.

On a pan at 1054 I found Cass (RG06) newly arrived to 3BS. She snoozed for a while and then reentered the water at 1221.

Diver posse member Paul Hasley really came through today. He called at 0835 to advise that he had just finished a dive and and spent quality time with Buster (RV08) who was in the company of a smaller animal with tags N02/03. A bit of research confirmed that this is a 3 y.o. male from the Big Island, born to RI25 on 4-11-13. This marks his first Oahu sighting. Paul’s excellent videos show lots of interaction, and be sure to turn the sound on for lots of talking back and forth.

Marilyn & Lesley were at the End of the World today. They found Ka’ale (RH32), RW02,Ka’ena (RO40) & Squinty (R330). He is sporting a new bleach courtesy of the Kauai folks. He now has a V67, right side posterior.

At 0706 Team Billand found Pohaku (RO28) at Paradise Cove.

The Billands called at 1000 with the report of Benny (RE74) at Ranches, just down the way from Kea’au’s. NOAA & HMMA were notified. The NOAA time arrived successfully captured Benny. The location was a bit difficult in terms of getting him to the truck. Assistance was provided by some passing military police. Benny was transported to the NOAA facility. Awaiting further word.

Hopefully he will come by this side of the island to meet us
