12/24/2015 DB's Dailies: Kimo Kai,Kolohe,Kea,RM38,Buster&W/F@Rabbit Island, Pohaku@Secrets, RK36@Turtle Bay, Right Spot@MCBH, Benny@Paradise Cove, RIP&Kekoa@Maili Point

It was quite a crop at Rabbit Island today. At 0724 I found what would prove to be Kimo Kai (RT12), Kolohe (RW22) & Kea (RN46) in the Morning Glory, left of 1BS. Kea has returned from his 13 day adventure to where Kea only knows he goes.

 Though I suspected he was there, RM38 appeared from his grasses hide out at 0804. His D#10 molt is 90%.

 The highlight of the day came at 1043 when, what I believe to be the same little weaner sized animal that has shown up on 12-4 & 12-16 appeared at Seal Rock Inlet. When I first arrived I thought there was a trail up into the grass at that location, and sure enough the animal moved down from there. Until today I was never able to get a sex, but I’m happy to report that I could confirm a female belly, along with 2 red tags. I want more than anything to confirm that is Cass, but that is an impossibility, since she has no markers. I was especially attuned to ruling out a possible Ola, since she is MIA. My photos are pretty sad, but fortunately what I’m actually seeing is much better. At no time did I see anything like a hook or line, nor did I observed any behavior that suggested that.

 At 1230 Buster (RV08) hauled out of Seal Rock Inlet to join the W/F. ID was by his old coat, left eye scar, and his 3 red tags.

 At 0614 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at Secret’s , KoOlina. Warren reported her departure at 1609.

 At 1341 the Billands found RIP (RR70) at Maili Point. At 1357 the Billands happily reported that Kekoa (RK72) was hauling out to join RIP at Maili Point.

 A Dana call at 1313 brought a few bits of information. Firstly, RK36 was once again at Right Spot’s Spot , Turtle Bay. Next was the report of an animal at Paradise Cove. A photo from volunteer Nancy confirmed the Benny (RE74).

 Dana also advised that Tony was on his way to MCBH for a reported animal. I received mail from NOAA employee Lusi Perry, who lives on the base with photos, and a piece of video, confirming that it was Right Spot (R016). She met Tony at the site and he too confirmed the ID. Apparently, she was also there yesterday.
