12/1/2015 DB's Dailies: Kolohe,Right Spot, Kea, Kainoa&Kimo Kai@Rabbit Island, Benny & Buster@White Plains, Pohaku@Secrets, La'akea&Ua Malie@Turtle Bay,

At 0717 on my first look at Rabbit Island I found Kolohe(RW22)&RM38 up in the Morning Glory, at the log, and Right Spot (R016) 100 ft left of 1BS. Kolohe would later move down to join Right Spot.

At 0936 RM38 spied something in the shore break fronting 1BS, and hurried down. At the water line he met what would turn out to be Kea (RN46), Kainoa (RN04) & Kimo Kai (RT12). All four would enter the water at 0938, and I lost them. I did not see RM38 again.

At 1009 the Sub Barn (HURL, Hawaii Undersea Research Lab), guys called to say that they were watching 3 swimming seals, west of the pier, several 100 ft away. I hurried down, and found them with the binocular’s but I could only ID by his RFF. As we watched they slowly began working their way further out. At 1159 all three hauled out together, 50 ft east of 3BS, and proved to be Kea, Kainoa & Kimo Kai. They snoozed away the rest of the day.

At 0620 Team Billand called with the report of Benny (RE74) at White Plains. At 0720 they advised that Buster (RV08) had arrived and after a spat, Benny left. Buster remain a bit but then he too departed.

At 0917 a surfer called from White Plains advising that an animal had just hauled out. I immediately notified the Billands . They responded at 0935 confirmed the Buster ID. At 1015 they advised that Benny had returned. As you know from the last couple of days, Buster has a wound over his left eye. Barbara saw addition wounds on the right side of Buster’s face today, and thought they were shark tooth wounds. She forwarded the shots to Tracy, who confirmed the marks as superficial shark bite wounds. His behavior appears to be normal, but obviously the boy had a close encounter of the “Oh Crrrrap !!!” kind.

DanaMail at 0819 advised of an animal at Secret Beach. She advised that Warren was responding.

Team Billand confirmed the Pohaku (RO28) ID at 0935. Teri advised that Pohaku departed at 1636.

A Diane Gabriel text at 1350 reported La’akea (RK82) at Kuilima Cove, Turtle Bay. Diga texted again at 1450 with the report of Ua Malie (RT10) at the Keiki Pool.

A DanaTxt at 1711 advised of an animal Chun’s. Jeannie was not able to ID.

Awaiting further info. The Billands are stuck in traffic. Check the blog in the morning for their day.
