4/23/2015 DB's Dailies: Sadie,PO2, RM38, UF & UU@RI, Kea@BH, Benny@Makaha, Pohaku@PC, U'ilani@RR, RT12@GR, Ola,La'akea&Kaikaina@TB

Terminal VOG made today’s Rabbit Island observations a challenge, At 0644 I found Sadie&PO2(RB12) at the left end of the island, and what would remain an U/F out on the left end rock flats. I’d but a cat on Kaiwi, but ???? On a pan at 1124 I found another , smaller animal, also out on the left end rock flats. I could never get an ID.

 At 0800 I found Kea (RN46) at the Blowhole Cove. He had last been to this location on 4-4-15. After that he did a run of 8 consecutive days at Rabbit Island, and then as he has been doing of late, totally disappears for 10 to 11 day, to an unknown hangout. He has remained at the BHC all day.

 I got back to Makai Pier at 0824. At 0850 what would prove to be RM38 , hauled out a respectful distance from Sadie&PO2, but Mom wasn’t feeling respected so the spats began. RM38 would just not get the hint. He managed to get around and behind Mom & pup, and then begin to return to the sea. Sadie was giving him the “stink eye” the whole time. Even after he reentered the water he would not leave. She charged into the water and they went at it again. She had a hell of a time because the pup went with her, so she had to keep track of both. Ultimately, RM38 would depart at 0923. Mom & pup continued their water session, hauling out again at 0931. RM38 would haul out down the beach at Seal Rock Inlet, at 0959 , where he snoozed away the rest of the day.

 At 0812 Team Billand reported Benny(RE74) at the Makaha Surfside Condo. Apparently, he had been there since 2130 last night. They advised Debbie had called them at 1123 to advise that Benny was gone.

 At 0856 Team Billand reported Pohaku (RO28) at PC. Terri reported her departure at 1721.

 At 1123 the Billands reported U’ilani (RN36) at the Reef Runway.

 At 1435 they found RT12 at Maili Guard Rails.

 Dana called at 1545 to advise that 3 sisters where at the Pup Site at Turtle Bay. They were Ola (RG03), La’akea (RK82)&Kaikaina (RL54).
