Good Evening,
This morning we got a call of a seal on shore at White Plains near narrowing road. We searched from 9am to 9:30 and found nothing to our disappointment.
Checked Windsock and TADAAAAAA!!!!! We got Seals. Two of em. It was the Romantic Couple of Irma and Kermit, side by side, snoozing comfortably, in PEACE! Kermit was like a sick puppy slowly trying to creep up to Irma. Irma shot up, made soft WHOOP WHOOP sounds to Kermit, who gently layed back down. I swear Irma said, "Kermit, I said NO!!!!!!!"
We had another place to go so we left 10am and also put two signs up, just in case fishermen would come later on to the spot of the two seals. Just as we were pulling out, a van showed up with 5 folks. We asked them nicely not to disturb the seals at all and they seemed to care. We left the area, went further down the road and walked back up the beach to see if the family was going to disturb the seals. We were spying and of course we watched them all go directly toward the seals. The man happened to look up and saw me with binoculars. I think they knew we were still around and left the seals alone. Phew. Relief. We left area with reluctance but you gotta do what ya gotta do and hope for the best.
By 2:00, we returned to find the seals still around but further toward Kalaeloa and more up on the reef this time. Kermit was still trying his best to get Irma's full attention and love. Irma was very persistent in saying....WHOOP WHOOP WHOOP....N.....O....NO!!! Chill baby!!!!! And once again, Kermit backed off. We just love this couple and was pleased to find both together AGAIN. It was a great afternoon with Kermit and Irma and a sweet observation. I love good days with the seals, life is wonderful.
We left the Romantic seals alone after 3pm. Hopefully, they will be just fine and we'll check on them again in the morning.
Romance is in the air and you can definetly feel it!!!!! BB
