July 8, 2026 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:34 to 2:36 pm and there were nine seals seen during that time.
At the back Lanikai side of LPB were two to three seals:
Sub-adult Unknown 1: sub-adult size, older coat with some green, no info on tags or sex.
Sub-adult Unknown 2: sub-adult size, new coat, no info on tags or sex.
Weaner Unknown: weaner size, light gray coat, no info on tags or sex.
About 40 feet Lanikai side of 1BS were Kala RH76 and PO13. The pup wandered toward and into the water twice during Marilyn's viewing session. The pup vocalized several times and appeared to try to get mom into the water, instead mom moved up the beach and PO13 ultimately followed.
Soon after Marilyn started viewing, what she believes to be PO10 hauled out between the 1BS and 2BS. Small recent weaner size and shape, lighter belly, unsure of its sex and no tags.
On the 3BS side of the middle cliff area was a Weaner Male: weaner size, male ventral and at least two red tags.
Almost directly down from the 3BS was a Juvenile Female: small juvenile size, older coat with some green, female belly and two red tags.
Out between the SRI and RRB was a Sub-adult Female: sub-adult size, older coat, light female belly and two red tags.

Team R&B arrived at the pup site to find Rocky and PO11 in the water exploring. Momma Rocky galumphed up in the rocks but PO11 couldn't make it. Mom kept barking at the kid. PO11 then moved away and mom got nervous still
barking and then entering water to greet PO11.  Today PO11 is 25 days old.
They both made their way to the birth fence, on the outside. There was a nursing session and then snoozed.
Pup awoke, but mom was snoring, so the pup moved up to mom for another feed. Mom didn't move so the pup slept along side her for awhile. Then at 11:40 that the pup woke mom up. They both entered the water and went exploring. Rocky then took PO11 past the driftwood side and kept going. Team R&B were hoping the folks
would get out of the ponds. It's the rocky spot to nurse, but finally the volunteer got the people out of the water and began to move the ropes and signs. Mom and pup were looking but didn't land. The volunteer opened the site where mom and pup nursed in the am. People went over swimming and laying in the area with their dogs.
Rocky and PO11 never landed while they were there, mom and pup just floated in the shallows. The pup was actually upside down like an adult snoozing. Too cute.

At one point during the day another smaller seal swam to the area, looking around but kept going. Team R&B asked the fishers at the cove if the seal came by. They said it did, ate in the school of fish and then moved on. They mentioned it wasn't a big seal.
