They started their day at the pup site and when they arrived the volunteer pointed out where mom and pup were, exploring in the water.
Around 10 am they hauled out by the old fenced area on the outside of the zone. They stayed for over 2 hours and Team R&B waited.
Finally they awoke and entered the rough waters. PO11 stayed close to Momma Rocky, waves were pounding, very windy and strongcurrents. The winds blew down many of the signs, rubbish flying into the water, passed Mom and pup and beyond.
For the first time Mom took PO11 further out, but briefly landed on the rocks. Then they went back in the water and turned to go outward. PO11 trying to stay with mom and being vocal. Mom blocked her from going out to sea with her body and then they swam in to explore.
Then a news crew showed up and this was the 3rd time in the last couple of days.
Rocky decided to haul out by the driftwood, right where the news crew were interviewing people. Rocky started barking and Team R&B looked to see if the volunteer was still on site, but she had left. So Team R&B took it upon themselves to move folks back, move the signs and ropes.
Rocky and PO11 had a nursing session. Team R&B secured the signs and then headed out.
Team R&B stopped by plains after getting a text of seal haul out. When they got to the site there was RT06. As they had mentioned the lifeguards want to name him Marvin, after a beloved Lifeguard that passed away. As Team R&B took a photo of a banner honoring Marvin a fairy tern flew by.
