Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 10:00 to 10:45 am and then again at 3:00 to 3:48 pm.
Ultimately there were four seals seen on island today.
In the morning there were initially two seals:
Up next to the naupaka before the 2BS was a pregnant adult female, which Marilyn believes to be Pua RF34: large adult size, older tan coat, pregnant female belly, at least one tag, and a scar on the right rear side. She moved down to the waterline and then started back up the incline when Marilyn was leaving in the morning.
There was an Unknown Juvenile near the waterline between 3BS and SRI: juvenile to small sub-adult size, unsure about sex or tags. At 10:16 am Marilyn noticed this seal had left and did not return during her viewing session.
When Marilyn returned at 3pm, a pregnant Adult Female was hauled out on LPB: large adult size, older dark coat female belly and lighter area around nipples, unsure about tags. This is probably Sadie and the same UA as yesterday.
Note of interest: RB12 Sadie was born on Rabbit Island to RS00 Ewa Girl in April of 2007. Sadie is the mother of RF34 Pua who was born on Rabbit Island in April of 2014. So if the both pup, there will be mother and daughter both having pups close together.... not to mention Pua's pup will be Sadie's grandpup.
Tammy met up with Lesley at the point. It was a slow people day which always make it better. There were lots of wedgies in burrows and albatross chicks starting to get their adult feathers.
In the seal world it was a boys day today. First find was Holokai RG40 on the runway. Next there was RG32 resting on the rocks. Last but not least was an untagged male on the beach. They watched and took pics from all sides, but just couldn't make a positive ID.
Team R&B arrived at pokai and saw a seal foraging. They watched fora while and finally determined it was R3CX Nalu. He stayed out in the open ocean and never landed.
They shared a photo of a beautiful native flower. Sadly they found a deceased shearwater on the coral.
Their only other find was at Kahe. The boys were all resting peacefully. There was RK72 Kekoa Alii, RG32 Lefty in the pond, and RL20 Kalua.
