08/02/2020 Sunday Act-With-Care Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Marilyn.

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:30 to 1:30. Once again she spotted seven seals on island today.
There were two adult males that kept moving from one location to another and had several spats so it made keeping track a bit difficult.
On Left Point Beach:
Seal 1 - weaner (either PO1 or PO3) weaner size, no tags and male belly
Seal 2 - weaner PO5 (Makaknalani) based on larger weaner size and coloration, light female belly and no tags. At 12:15 she entered the water and later hauled out closer to the cliff nearer the LPB rock flats.

Close to 1BS:
Seal 3 - unidentified juvenile female, newly molted with two tags. She was visited by the two adult male seals several times.
Seal 4 - adult male with older coat, two tags and applied N11 bleach ID'd as RG32.
Seal 5 - unidentified juvenile (female), new coat, two tags and smaller than Seal 3

3BS (original gathering)
Seal 6 - Adult male, darker belly, at least one tag and larger than RG32
Seal 7 - unidentified juvenile female, older coat with lots of green on the belly with two tags. She could be the same J/F from yesterday.

RG32 showed up to Seals 6 and 7 and immediately Seal 6 moved away towards middle cliff.
Later Seal 6 and RG32 both showed up to Seal 3 and 5 and had some words. Seal 6 then visited with Seal 1 weaner and approached PO5 but then left.
I can only imagine how difficult it was for Marilyn to document all this activity.

Team Billand found Lefty RG28 to the right of water front rocks at a west side location. He was snoozing by himself today. No other seals came around.

Next find was Kaale RH32 at a different west side location. He was on the rocks alone. While they were taking his picture another seal approached him. He came in fast like a bullet, it was RN14 Kalani. Kaale turned and put out a large bark, Kalani turned and left in a hurry.
Kaale remained on the rocks and he was still there after their Ka'ena West Trek. He was way up in the rocks snoozing big fat green goblin.

Then about half hour later they were surprised to find Paakea RF28 in a small pond snoozing alone. There were two fishermen nearby but they were respectable. When they returned from their Ka'ena West trek Paakea was gone.

While out at Ka'ena West they found RL42 Leia. She was well hidden, keeping herself away from the boys.
Then RN15 Kalani came to the area, looking around, sniffing. He was close but they were apart from each other.
And then there was da Benny. He came a little later, went up and down looking. On his 2nd pass he knew Leia was there, but RN15 wouldn't let Benny haul up. Kalani barked so loud, Benny left the area.
