08/04/2020 Tuesday Act-With-Care Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Lesley and Team Billand. Lesley's Ka'ena update is part two of the dailies.

Just before 9 am Team Billand found RL20 Kalua sleeping at a westside beach. He was alone to the right of water front rocks. Fish hook still in place, but he is looking fine, no distress and good body weight.

Then just before 10 am after waiting they were rewarded with another seal coming in. It was none other then Ka'ale RH32.  They were really happy to see him after hearing he stole a big papio (which the fishermen use a bigger hook). They checked him out carefully and were relieved to see he did not have a hook or line.
No other seals came around so they headed out at 10:30 to check out Ka'ena West.

On their way to Ka'ena West they made a quick stop and found Paakea RF28. He was alone snoozing
alone.

Team Billand was on a mission to find Leia RL42 to see if she started her molt. They were thrilled to accomplish their mission. They commented that she is a "mess". They found her at 12:30 in the water hole. She is molting all under her throat, chest and hind flippers and part of her face. Looks like this molt is going to go fast.
While focusing on Leia, they spotted a small tan seal, partly on the rocks and part in the water. It took a bit but they realized its N4 Kai! Sure enough there is the applied bleach.
He entered the water to cool off, swims about and exits hauls out on rocks again. He is a cutie, nice coat, good girth doing okay by himself.
Pretty cool to have Mom and Pup out there.... even if there was no interaction and they were apart from each other.
