5/25/2015 DB's Dailies: Weaner(PO2),Kolohe,RM38,Aukai&Kainoa@RI. Kaiwi@BF, Nihoa@Maipalaoa, Kimo Kai@Guard Rails, Kekoa@Maili Pt., Ola@Turtle Bay, Pohaku@Kauai,

We were on the road at 0600 to check the status of Eternity Beach. Thankfully, Kea was gone. We picked up the equipment and continued the adventure.

At 0730 I found Kainoa (RN04)& Aukai (RL12) together at 3BS on Rabbit Island.

At 0747 Marilyn called with the report of an animal at Buster Flats, Lanai Lookout. The morning glare made it impossible to get an ID. Gayle came through however, with a Kaiwi (RK96) at 1152. She was still there at 1700, per Marilyn.

Further checks of the quadrant through the day by Marilyn, Gayle & Gina found no critters.

At 0850 what would prove to be RM38, hauled out to join Aukai & Kainoa. After some initial words, all settled down.

The highlight of the day came at 0940 when our newest Weaner , PO2, to the left end of the beach on RI. Kolohe would join the weaner at 1012, and he would follow the kid into the water at 1019. I got lots of belly time with the kid today, but I’m still unsure of the sex, due to less than ideal conditions. I’ve included multiple shots today. You make a guess ?????? The best I could do was 50/50. Nothing like sticking your neck out DB ... lol!

Kolohe apparently got tired of playing with his Weaner quickly, because at 1030 he hauled out to join RM38,Aukai&Kainoa a 3BS. There was a 3 round bout between Kolohe & RM38, with 38 taking the belt. Kolohe would move off with Kainoa, while RM38 & Aukai remained at their location. All would remain all day.

At 0930 Team Billand reported Nihoa (R912) at the Maipalaoa Canal, Maili. NOAA personnel hazed her away, however she would later return to the canal.

Diane Terai checked in at 1037 to advise that Ola (RG03) had just hauled out at Turtle Bay.

At 1207 the Billands reported Kimo Kai (RT12) at Maili Guard Rails.

At 1222 they found Kekoa (RK96) at Maili Point.

Great news from our pal Val, on Kauai. She thought she’d seen Pohaku (RO20) there yesterday, and today called to confirm that Pohaku is in deed on Kauai. Her due date is 6-6-15. Thank You Val !!!

No wonder we couldnt find her at any of her hide aways.
God bless you dear POHAKU and may you give birth to a female, that will thrive and give us more babies to watch out for.

Thanks to Val and all the volunteers out on Kauai...please let us know when she does give birth. And do send in more photos of Pohaku...we tried so hard to keep her safe on Oahu.

Ok..here we go again, wondering, hoping, praying for : A safe birth, a healthy pup. AND A LONG LIFE ON EARTH.
