Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 2:21 pm and only the three moms and their pups were on island during that time.
Out on the rock flats on the Lanikai side of LPB was MO3. Marilyn did not see PO3 until much later. She only saw a small portion of its back. Marilyn thinks MO3 will wean PO3 soon.
On LPB about 25 feet Lanikai side of the 1BS was RK38 Hali'a and her pup PO4. PO4 had two nursing session while they were on the beach. At one point PO4 headed for the water, but then returned to Mom and nursed some more. They disappeared from the beach and presumably entered the water around 1:20 and were not seen again.
RF34 Pua and PO5 started out on the rock flats on the Makapuu side of the small beach at Middle Cliff. Sometime around 1:00 pm Pua and pup entered the water and were seen briefly at the Middle Cliff beach. Around 2 pm they hauled out about 20 feet on the Lanikai side of Middle Cliff. The pup seem healthy and active.
Out on the west side Team R&B got word from a friend of a seal hauling out. They were just parking and when they got to the area it was EL20 Kalua was already up on the rocks. He wasn't there very long as the waves were hitting him and then he rolled into the water. He hung out for a bit and then moved on.
They had heard that there were seals at Paradise Cove yesterday, so they decided to check it out today. When they arrived there were lots of people in the water, on the rocks, and on shore.
There were signs on shore in the same spot as yesterday, but no seals. Then they saw three seals, fighting and swimming around in the lagoon. Every time one of the seals tried to haul out, people ran down to the shoreline to take pictures.
Team R&B did their best to call out to the people to move back. It was especially upsetting when a boy chased a seal from the water. They yelled out to let the seals land. Truly upsetting.. One woman came by and helped Team R&B move the signs. Once they did RL12 Aukai came right in with R416. There was an seal with a head wound, who landed but R416 wasn't having him on shore, and they fought.
Finally the seal with the head wound went and landed on the rocks and all settled.
A call was made to the hotline and another lady called DLNR. Team R&B hung out until 2 pm and no one came while they were there.
