Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕
Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:25 to 2:16 pm and there were just the three moms and their pups for seals. But the Sooty Terns have landed. Marilyn has seen them flying around for about 10 days. Today when she arrived it was evident that thousands had landed.
Near the water a short distance Lanikai of the 1BS were MO3 and her pup PO3. They started with a long nursing session. MO3 is no longer fat. PO3 is four weeks old today. Marilyn could see the red Allflex tag on the pup, but did not see the applied 3 bleach.
Again between the 1BS and 2BS was RF34 Pua and her pup PO5. Just like yesterday, the pup was mostly hidden behind mom. Marilyn did see one nursing session. Marilyn did see RF34's right rear side scar to confirm her ID. Also she is no longer fat.
Out on the rock flats on the 3BS side of SRI were RK38 Hali'a and her pup PO4. RK38 was mostly on her left side or back during Marilyn's viewing. PO4 slept along side mom for much of the time. But then started nursing and was mostly crawling over mom's body to do so. Marilyn also saw PO4's red Allflex tag, but did not see the applied 4 bleach.
Team R&B started on the west side. They didn't find any seals, but took some time to watch the boobies. They met up with a friend who was sad from the loss of his big dog. They had seen them many times the last few years. Articus weighed 110 pounds and was very well behaved. Team R&B spent time talking story.
Next they decided to head over to plains. When they got to the area on shore was big boy RN14 Kalani. He was not too comfortable as the waves kept hitting him He also kept looking at the water, but Team R&B never saw another seal. He turned over and went into the water heading down the beach. They watched the folks in the water, most didn't know he was even passing them.
Then RN14 made a u-turn, so they grabbed the signs. He moved a little further and landed. All the folkson shore were yelling "Auntie.... Need Help???" Yes grab the signs and ropes. Then about ten people did just that. The lifeguards were also coming to help.
People were amazing today, they were telling Team R&B what a good job they were doing helping the seals. They expressed how angry they were about the incident on Maui with the guy throwing the rock. They were also sad about the death of a seal at Nanakuli. They wanted to know what happened but Team R&B told them they didn't have any information and they found out on social media.
The people all agreed they had to help keep the seals safe. Team R&B received a bunch of fist bumps. This had to feel good for Team R&B. Maybe people are finally understanding!
Team R&B headed back to the west side and stopped to watch the dolphins. They were going nuts today, lots of jumping. Nice to see them again, since the Kona Low storms they weren't seen as much and the water is finally back to blue!
Their friend who lost his dog came by and asked if they saw the cute seal. They were surprised, he pointed and they went to look. There was the cutie Miss RS32. She was alone and snoozing, looking very green.
