01/08/2021 Friday Monk Seal Dailies

Today's dailies are brought to you by Team Billand.

Team Billand found the three amigos at the outfall today. There was Ka'ale, Kalani and Lefty. They watched and saw them heading for tracks. Ka'ale RH32 was the first to haul out. Soon after he came in a surf board hit him, and he left immediately. The surfer got his board.  Kalani RN14 landed for a bit, but left to go play with his bosom buddy Kaale.  A 3rd seal was hauling out further away. It was barking but it was too far away for Team Billand to get an ID, and the seal soon left.  Ka'ale and Kalani stayed along the shore line playing.

Then Rn14 Kalani would be the one to haul out again in the same spot, and Lefty RG28 followed him. The two of them stayed hanging out together.  Ka'ale went all the way to the bath house and hauled in and stayed alone.  Team Billand waited hoping a volunteer would arrive and put up some signs. No one arrived before Team Billand had to leave. One additional note before they left the area they got to see some humpbacks showing off.

Team Billand got to the bay and they were thrilled to find N4 Kai on the rocks with Lei Ola. He is very

small especially next to Lei Ola. He is looking okay nothing our of the ordinary. He must have been there for a while because he was really dry.

RN44 was snoozing on the rocks. Team Billand saw a guy go up to him and took a really close photo of RN44. The guy saw Team Billand and asked them how they felt about getting next to the sea lion.  Okay right there I would have lost my patience. Team Billand explained to him about the monk seals and he left shortly after. RL20 Kalua was snoozing near the homeless camp again. He had to been there for a while in that he was really dry.
