4/17/2016 DB's Dailies: RIP,Kea,Kainoa,Cass&RG32@Rabbit Island, Kaiwi@Kokee Flats & China Walls, Pohaku@Paradise Cove, Kolohe@Maili Pt, Kekoa@Maili Guard Rails, Holokai&U/U@Turtle Bay

It was a tough day for Rabbit Island observations, but it was a heck of a gang out there today. When I arrived at 0732, I found what would prove to be RIP (RR70) once again back at RI. He began at the notch between the L & R Greenery at the left end of RI, but would later move down to going the rest of the cast, only to relocate again later to 1BS.

Also at 0732 I panned to the right and found Kea (RN46), 60 ft right of 3BS.

At the same time I looked down to the water line below Kea and found what would turn out to be Kainoa (RN04) & Cass(RG06) playing at the water line.

On a pan at 0800 I found Kainoa & Cass hauling out together and beginning a galumph toward Kea. At the same time I noticed that RG32 had also hauled out at a different location , but he too was just approaching Kea’s location. All would meet there and spend the rest of the day together. After one of the many white out rain squalls, I found that RIP too had relocated to Kea’s location, After another such squall at 1238 I noticed that RIP was gone. On a pan a 1255 I found him hauling out to 1BS.

A Marilyn text at 1003 advised that she had found Kaiwi (RK96) at Irma’s Grotto, Kokee Flats. Melanie would also confirm that she was still there when she began her shift at 1100. The rising tide got Kaiwi off the flats at 1200. Melanie immediately relocated to China Walls, and found that Kaiwi had beaten her there. She was snoozin’ in her her usual CW spot, at 1226.

Team Billand called at 0628 with the report of a foraging animal off shore of Maili Point. They would confirm the Kolohe RW22), but then lost him at 0745. They found him again snoozin’ on the rocks at Maili Pt at 0825.

At 0948 they reported Kekoa (RK72) at Maili Guard Rails.

At 1043 the Billands reported Pohaku (RO28) once again at Paradise Cove . Mahalos to Warren, Chrissy&Zuly.

Dr. Tom found Holokai (RG40) at the Elbow, and an U/U near Right Spot's Spot.

On today’s look at Instagram I found a shot of somebody on Moku Nui today. This morning I found a shot from yesterday confirming Nani (RK60). Chances are good that this is her again but ??

Also on the Instagram check I found a shot of this year’s NOAA Field Camp mob departing for the back of beyond for 4 months.
