Here is Marilyn's Update:
I viewed Rabbit Island from Makai Pier from 11:58 am to 2:19 pm. It was mostly sunny with light to moderate winds.
There were seven HMS seen on RI during my viewing session.
Out on the rock flats Lanikai side of LPB was RM26 Nohea and her pup PO10. The had a long nursing session, then entered the LPB channel and later hauled out on LPB from the channel. PO10 seems healthy and active.
Initially up from the LPB channel was what I'm labeling Sub-adult Male 1 (SM1): large sub-adult size, light male belly, not sure about tags. The seal was gone by 12:26 pm.
Later a Weaner Male (either RV68 for RV70) hauled out of the LPB channel and moved up on the nearby rocks. When I looked later RM26 and her pup had hauled out a short distance from the WM. When I looked later, the WM had departed.
At 1:02 pm weaner RV50 hauled out on the 2BS of Middle Cliff. She moved up slightly and then rolled over. She was still in that location when I departed. She was recent weaner size, light female belly and three red tags.
At 1:17 pm, Sub-adult Male 2 (SM2) hauled out on waterfront rocks about 40 feet Lanikai side of the 3BS. Later the SM2 moved across the beach to meet up with RU38. I don't think the SM2 is the same seal as the SM1. The SM2 was sub-adult size, mottled gray male belly; no tags seen.
Juvenile female RU38 was initially alone between the 3BS and SRI. She is chubby size for a juvenile, old coat with lots of green, female belly and two red tags. She was later accosted by the SM2.
