Feb 28, 2923 Tuesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 11:37 to 12:15, cut short due to the passing showers.
Just as she set up the scope she spotted a group of three seals near the waterline in the middle of LPB. They were located right where the waves break so they were frequently obscured by the waves and spray.
Unknown Adult 1: adult size, light gray ventral, and unsure about tags
Subadult Female: subadult size, light female belly and not sure about tags.
Unknown Adult 2: adult size, darker coat, don't know gender or tags because of the view.
Alone between 3BS and SRI was an Adult Male: adult size, medium gray male belly and unsure about tags.

They had an appointment this morning so they went to search for seals later in the day. Their first find was two seals spotted on shore at tracks. They noticed the seals when a woman in a red bikini walked got close to the seals for pictures.
One of the seals R604 wasn't happy, as she was barking at the woman. The other seal was RH32 Kaale, he moved closer to R604.
Team R&B called the hotline and gave them the information on the seals and what was going on. Thankfully the woman left with her boyfriend.
R604 and RH32 settled in and stayed on shore. Then more folks arrived, but this time Team R&B asked them to keep their distance. They left before knowing if a volunteer arrived.

At another west side location they found two male seals together. There was Kekoa Alii RK72 and Puka RP30 on high rocks. They were snoozing together in the blowing wind and drizzles.
The winds were so strong it was a challenge to stand still and keep your hat on.
There was an akule boat off shore raking in fish so close to the rocks.
Well today was the day to get some great photos of the whales. Today they were close in and playing, there was even a mother and calf.

On their last stop they found Kala RH76 on the rocks. She was so well hidden, they only took a couple of photos so they wouldn't bring attention to her.
To the other end, there was another seal. In the pond on his side was Nalu R3CX.

Feb 27, 2023 Monday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team R&B💕

Their first find today was the kid, RP30 Puka. He was at the same location as yesterday to the left on high rocks. He was alone and snoozing peacefully.

At another location they came across a greenish seal. It was hidden in the rocks, which took a bit to make the ID. Turned out to be RL08.
Looking out over the water they watched a seal foraging. It was RH32 Kaale in his old stomping grounds.
Finally the saw him hauling out at a beach nearby. It didn't take long for people to go up to him. They called the hotline to report.

Next stop they found a very large female and at first they didn't recognize her. They waited and finally she turned over and they knew it was R413 MaKamae. Her left cc scars on her body, big scar on her chest and not tags. They called the hotline to report.
While at the site they were treated to the whales breaching.

On their last stop for the day they found Miss Leina RL70. She was alone on the rock and snooze mode. A gentleman at the site said there was another seal on site before they arrived. Team R&B never saw the other seal. Leina was doing just fine, looking good with no new markers.

Feb 26, 2023 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Melody and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:30 to 2:50 and there were three seals during her observation.
Initially near the surge channel on the Lanikai side of LPB was RK24 Bruno/Wawamalu: adult size, lighter male belly, two red tags and scar on right side about 1/3 forward of rear flippers.  He galumphed across LPB to where there was an Adult Female resting.
In the middle of LPB was an Adult Female: adult size, tannish yellow female belly and two red tags. After interacting with RK24, he entered the water about 2:06 pm.
There was an Unknown Adult on the water rocks between 3BS and SRI. Marilyn didn't get much to look at other than: subadult to adult size.
At about 2:29, Marilyn noticed that RK24 had joined the U/A. He bothered it some and then about 10 minutes later left.
At about 2:50 RK24 hauled out again with the A/F on left point beach. He was definitely in "cruiser male" mode.

Melody was out and about today and took some time out to look for seals.  She got lucky and came across R016 Right Spot. She is looking good by no new markers or wounds not to mention she is looking quite round. Melody also bumped into Gamma Gayle looking after her.

Team R&B had a celebration to attend today, so they only did a quick check of the beaches.
First stop they found RP30 Puka snuggled at the rocks. He was alone, but keeping himself out of the chilly winds. They just made the ID and left.

Next the went to Kahe and saw a seal foraging in and out of the outfall. There were so many people in the water today, snorkelers and divers, that it was hard to find the seal in the crowd.
They spotted the seal swimming along, subadult size. They are pretty sure it was RL20 Kalua, but they didn't have time to take more photos.
