12/14/2018 Monk Seal Dailies (part 1)

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Lesley. Lesley's complete Ka'ena Update is part two of the dailies.

Team Billand was out early morning searching for seals and just as they were arriving at Plains they got a call there was a seal on shore.
The seal was resting and the surfers were scrambling to put signs and ropes up. It's a good thing to see these guys making the effort to keep the seal safe.  Years of outreach to this community has paid off in some noticeable actions. Team Billand was able to ID Rocky with her signature bleach on left flipper, and "playboy bunny" scar on face and once she flipped they spotted the CC scar.
She was facing the sunrise, beautiful lighting, beautiful seal. They called the hotline and stayed with her for just about 3 hours. They had spent their time educating the folks on the beach letting them know this is THE Rocky of "Rocky and Kaimana fame".

After leaving Rocky Team Billand headed to Leeward beach and spotted a shiny seal on shore. There was Pohaku RO28.  Near the area they spotted chairs and tables set up for surf school. Team Billand called the hotline to inform them of the situation.  Team Billand do not have any signs in their possession so they were unable to set anything up around her.  Pohaku looks good, clean and resting on her own.

Late morning Team Billand arrived at a west side beach and upon arrival they found three males snoozing on lower rocks. To the right was RIP RR70 tag showing and looking healthy.
Mid rocks was RW02 PvKauai had just hauled out. They spotted his markers on neck and ding on mid back and finally his tags. He is looking exceptionally good with his new coat.
Then on the left lower rocks was RN14 Kalani in the same spot as yesterday, stretching and relaxed even when RW02 hauled in.
All three boys hung out in the same spots all day, peacefully.
On their last check of this beach there was a shining little seal on
the rocks to the right. It was Lei Ola RH48 all by herself. Seems she was able to dodge the boys once again, one smart cookie. Once she stretched out her tags were visible and her mouth scar from the hook.

Team Billand found RL42 Leia at a different location. She was alone and resting peacefully on her side. Barbara noted she is looking a little plump and lovely.
