8/21/2017 Monk Seal Dailies: Rabbit Island U/Us, Right Spot, Ka'ale, Kekoa, RN14, RL42, RJ58

Today's Dailies are brought to you by Team Billand, Gayle and bit of yesterday's news from Melody.
I also received a couple of text from my niece who came across Miss Ua Malie and PO4....  I told her the story about pup sitting with Ua Malie, taking a spill and breaking my leg.  Ahhh the memories.

Team Billand was out an about 7:11am when they spotted RN14. He took his swim around the lagoon and was out by 7:37am. Hotline was called about his arrival and his departure.

Their next stop on the west side got onsite just in time to see RN14 arrive and bug RH32 Ka'ale who was sleeping on the rocks. Interesting how RN14 is 3 years older than Ka'ale and he's the one looking for the buddy to hang out with and Ka'ale is the one who gets annoyed.

Big news of the day was finding Kekoa Alii (RK72) today snoozing the day away. It took Team Billand a bit to ID him but after an hour, some rain and thunder they were able to ID him from right facial scar and tags.

After the rains stopped for a bit they arrived at their next west side stop and found RL42 snoozing alone on the cliffs.  RL42 was gone at 1:00pm.

Gayle spotted three seals on Rabbit Island today, one very young, one sub-adult, and one juvenile.
They all consider U/U without positive ID, but Gayle's thoughts were Aka, RG32 and Kawena (just possibilities)

Gayle also sent me a late in the day photo of Right Spot back on the east side.  So funny how she's spending so much time on the east side vs. "right spot's" spot at Turtle Bay.

Yesterday's News, received an email late last night from Melody with beautiful photos of Kaimana RJ58. thank you !

To Mrs Whisperer and Miss Gayle: I know how hard you both are trying to GET ID'S out on Rabbit Island. I wish with all my heart, you guys can make the id's with some help..like a bleaching program. That would help out some, dont ya think?

We can all appreciate DB's ability to do that, recognize an animal from so far away. Well, he did have ONE ADVANTAGE, he saw each of those animals, just after birthing. He made his own notes on what to look for and amazingly was right all the time.

Keep trying guys...keep trying...you'll get it.
