From Makai Pier at 0805 on one of many pans down to look at Kaupo Beach Park I found Kawena (RH36) just hauling out . The Hotline was notified. HMMA responded.Rabbit Island was bare until 0945, when a pan to the left end of the island brought what would prove to be Mojo (RI17) to my day. It took a while (3hrs), but he finally rolled so that I could see his new N17 bleach.
The west side Monk Seal world was a busy little place today. At 0952 Team Billand reported 4 “swimming heads” off shore of Maili Pt. Shortly thereafter Kolohe (RW22) hauled out to Maili Pt, and then aet 1109 Kerby (RW08) joined him.
At 1136, a bit further down the coastline the Billands found Ka’ale (RH32) at Maili.At 1143 Team Billand reported 4 seals at Puka Pants Beach, Nanakuli. By 1149 they had confirmed RW02 & RN14. At 1155 they got the Kekoa (RK72) ID. There was a small animal there also that they could not ID, as of this writing, due to positioning.
