2/14/017 DBs Dailies: Aukai,Kea&Kainoa@Rabbit Island, Kawena@Kaupo Beach Park, Pohaku&Benny@Paradise Cove, Kekoa,RW02,RIP,Kerby,Kolohe&Ka'ale@Maili, Buster@White Plains,

At 0800 I arrived at Makai Pier to find what would prove to be Aukai (RL12) in the company of Kea (RN46) snoozin’ at 1BS. It would take 5 hours but Aukai’s N12 bleach finally became visible in the afternoon light. Her last sighting had been at Ka’ena Pt on 1-27-17. Her last RI visit was on 12-25-16.

At 0846 they were joined by Kainoa (RN04). Both Kea & Kainoa would enter the water at 1023. Kea returned to join Aukai at 1316. I did not see Kainoa again today.

I had checked Kaupo BP every 15 minutes or so all day long. At 1342 I found Kawena (RH36) newly arrived mid way between the pump house and the memorial. I contacted the Hotline.

Team Billand checked in at 0620 with the report of Pohaku (RO28)at Paradise Cove. They would report Benny’s arrival to Pohaku’s side at 0646.

Beginning at 0912 Team Billand began reporting 5 animals at Maili, with lots of back and forth on ID info. To distill it down, I think I understand that the cast was Kekoa (RK72), RW02,RIP (RR70),Kerby (RW08)&Kolohe (RW22). On a recheck at 1543 they advised that everybody had departed , but as we spoke, Ka’ale (RH32) hauled out, and RW02 returned. Barbara also reported heavy duty rope and much cargo net at that location. She got the rope out, and calls were made to get the netting removed. No further word at this writing.

At 1257 the Billands got a call from White Plains lifeguards about an animal. When they arrived they found Buster (RV08) near Tower#1.
