July 23, 2023 Sunday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn and Team R&B💕

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:40 to 3:05 and there were five seals on island during her observation.
Initially alone on LPB was the molting Adult Female: adult size, about 70% molted, now medium gray belly and two red tags. Her ventral is completely molted and her dorsal area  is partially molted.
Between 3BS and SRI were initially two seals:
RK37 Huia: adult size, new coat, gray female belly, two red tags and nb on her lower left side. Just as Marilyn started viewing she spotted a seal leaving RK37.
The departing seal then cruised down the island and hauled out to the AF on LPB.  Once Marilyn got a good view of him she ID'd RK24 Bruno/Wawamalu: adult size, older coat, medium tan male belly, tow red tags and a right side scar about 1/3 forward from the rear flippers.
RK24 then left the AF and headed back to bother RK37. He stayed with her only a short time.

In the meantime at about 2:20 pm, Weaner RS34 hauled out near the AF. Marilyn ID'd RS34 based on her weaner size, shape, color and a nb on her lower right side. Later Marilyn noted her light female belly and two red tags.

At 2:35, RK24 hauled out to RS34 and the AF. RK24 mostly bothered the weaner then the weaner followed RK24 into the water in the LPB surge channel. Later Marilyn saw them in the water in front of the middle of LPB, then weaner RS34 hauled out alone.

About 2:05 Marilyn noticed that a Juvenile Female hauled out near the RRB channel. JF: juvenile size, old coat with lots of green and at least two red tags. Marilyn thinks this is RQ44 Mahina, but not sure.

Meanwhile Team R&B got lucky at a west side location. They spotted the lovely RH76 Kala. She was on the rocks and alone. She kept looking towards seal inlet, but there wasn't any other critters around.
As they walked back they noticed a seal foraging/swimming off the rocks and to the left. They could see it was an adult but that is all they could tell. They waited around to see if it would land but it never did while they were there.

Today Team R&B were treated to some dolphins and saw a beautiful white tern.
