DB Post Tuesday August 19th

Kerby,Hoku,Kolohe,RB08,Sadie&RM38@RI, 8-19-08

The boyz, Kerby,Hoku and Kolohe were there, and the girlz, Sadie and RB08 were there also. The real highlight of the day was the fact that RM38 was waiting for me when I arrived. M38 is a 7 year old male (he's Rocky's younger brother). Though he was born a Kauai guy , he has been on Oahu for some years now. He's at RI quite a bit, and then drops of the radar periodically, He has been documented at La'au Point on Molokai, and my feeling is that when he's got an RI resident that is probably where he's at. I last saw him at RI on 7-4-08.He is identified by his posterior, dorsal pit scar, and his 2 red tags . He was in classic "cruiser male" mode, hauling out to the location of every other cast member , during the day.

There was a noteworthy oddity to M38's day. Usually, when these cruiser males haul out to another animal they are pests, who try to get the other animal into the water to play. Mostly the other animals don't want to be bothered, and they move on to the next victim.

In the case of all 3 of the weaners, when M38 showed up to their locations, each and every one of them moved down to the water line to join him for a play session, as though they were genuinely happy to see him. I've never seen that happen before. They have all met him before, so I guess he made a good impression. Aloha, DB
