Actually Marilyn's update falls under yesterday's news. She got a text from gamma Gayle that there was an unknown male, Hawaiian Monk seal at one of the beaches. Marilyn made her way over after a couple of hours. She thinks this seal is R416 Makali': adult size, male belly. prominent scar on his left mid-ventral side, no tags. Marilyn did not see the pit scar above his LFF and he seems to have several line scratches or scars on the left mid side. Fortunately he did the one rollover that allowed her to get a photo of his ventral.
Also an update to yesterday's post. Team R&B determined after studying their photos that the unknown sub-adult seal that was at electric beach is RS32, sub-adult female!
Today Team R&B headed over to plains early. When they got to the site they found the two majestic females. Aukai RL12 and Huakai KG89. Both resting and both looking large.
Their only other sighting was spotting a seal with lots of green in the waters by the outfall. It looks to be an adult, they couldn't tell if it had tags. The seal was near a diver with an orange flag. They were able to get a couple of quick photos and then the seal disappeared.
The only other critter they found today was a turtle.
