March 6, 2026 Friday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:23 to 3:04 pm and there were three seals seen during that time.

On LPB was an Adult Male: adult size, mottled gray male belly, possible line scar on right neck area; no info on tags.

Between Middle Cliff and 3BS was Sub-adult Female: smaller sub-adult size, sand covered tan female belly, not sure about tags.

About 60 feet Makapuu of the 3BS was an Adult Unknown: chunky adult size, sand-covered ventral no info on sex. Marilyn thinks there was at least one tag.

Team R&B started their day on the west side. They found three seals in the area. They first ID'd RW02 PvKauai resting at seal inlet. RG32 had just arrived and landed on lower rocks. Seal #3 was a little difficult to ID. They believe the seal is R3CU a male originally from Kauai.

Next they spotted a seal from afar at electric beach. They were in a hurry, all they could determine it was an adult male. They couldn't see any tags and of course the seal didn't move so they could get a better look. He was reported as an Unknown Male

They decided to make their way to plains. When they got to the site there were two seals on shore.

The female was RL12 Auaki and she was with a male R407. They were both resting.

Meanwhile at another spot all by herself was KG89 Huakai. She was in a zone all alone and resting quite comfortably. She is huge and one wonders where and when she will deliver.

Team R&B got word of a seal on shore back on the west side. Itsounded like it was N45 the little skinny seal. They hurried out to the area and there he was resting on shore mid beach. There were signs up from the neighbors. People were good about giving him space. There were turtles in the water eating limu.

Then a second seal arrived. It was RP30 Puka. He cautiously moved up to N45 Na'au. N45 just lifted his head to look but wasn't interested. RP30 seemed unsettled and went back into the water but stayed in the area.

If that wasn't enough, a third seal arrived. It was the very big RL08. He came in very vocal and fought with RP30 as if to claim that N45 was his. N45 Na'au galumphed higher up, he knew there was trouble brewing. RL08 went up to Na'au and bumped his belly several times. Na'au got mad rolled over and bit him once. RL08 went to the water, he started to tighten up his belly, like he was going to throw up and he did in the water. Then he took off. All was quiet again and RP30 stayed with N45.
