Jan 10, 2019 Monk Seal Dailies:

Todays dailies are brought to you by Team Billand and Team T&D (Tammy and Dave).

Team T&D did Ka'ena Point and their first find was the beautiful Luana RN58. She is looking healthy and large, resting peacefully.
Their next find and what they were hoping to see was a Black Footed Albatross. Lastly they found Aukai RL12 at Hidden Beach, she too is looking large. Apparently Team T&D had a lengthy discussion which seal was bigger (Aukai or Luana), in the end they agreed to disagree.
Hmmmm I took a close look at the photos, it's pretty close at first I was going to say Aukai, but I think I have to say Luana .... but not by much!

Team Billand got a text early morning of a seal, so they went and checked Nanakuli and found Benny RE74 with some military dudes hanging around. Team Billand did some quick monk seal 101 and they were respectful and kept their distance. They called the hotline and left at 8:30 am when volunteer arrived.

Also during the early morning Team Billand checked the westside popular party spot and they spotted Kekoa Alii RK72 who had just hauled up on lower rocks. Kekoa watched as two more seal come in and are fighting in the shallows. He later went into his waterhole as usual.

RW02 showed up made a turn toward Honolulu way and then went up and remained mid rocks all day.

Team Billand saw RIP RR70 coming in, and Kaale RH32 following him. They got into a playful fight but RIP gave Kaale a good one and Kaale took off and Team Billand didn't see Kaale for the rest of the day.  RIP went around and came up mid rocks, when another seal showed up.
The seal came up on rocks and at first Team Billand thought it was Kaale, but no SURPRISE it wasn't.... It was Lei Ola RH48 with her tags visible. She galumphed up when she noticed RIP was coming in to her left side. She was looking very cute posturing to see who was there.

Barb got a text from Melody that there were whales breaching by Iroquois and RH92 was on shore. Two things Barbara can not resist seals and whales. So Team Billand were on their way, big Mahalos to Melody! Team Billand got to enjoy a mom and calf humpback to the entrance of the area. Although they didn't see any breaches it was still an amazing sight to see!  Oh and then there was RH92 cute little female seal from Kauai snoozing on shore.
