Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:02 to 2:58 pm and there were three seals seen during that time,
Initially when Marilyn arrived there were no seals visible. But at 1:25pm she spotted two seals hauling out on the 1BS side of LPB.
Weaner Unknown: weaner size and shape, two red tags, older coat, yellow ventral, could not determine sex.
The AU bothered the WU briefly and then re-entered the water and a short distance later met up with a Juvenile Unknown: juvenile to small sub-adult size, light ventral and two red tags. The two seal seal briefly hauled out and then the AU re-entered the water.
At 1:59 pm it appeared the AU had hauled out and moved behind the WU. They stayed next to each other for the rest of Marilyn's viewing session.
At 2:37 pm Marilyn became aware of the JU who hauled out about 50 feet Lanikai side of the AU & WU.
In yesterday's news Team R&B sent photo of a large honu on shore and some of the whales they saw out and about.
Today their first find was Miss Kala RH76. They noted she has a lot of scratches, from her suitors, made them feel bad. She was alone resting, some what alert. Later they got word she was still there but there was quite a gathering of fans.
They spotted three seals out there again. Today they stayed furtherout. There was RG32, RM31 Kai and RH48 Lei Ola.
At the rest camp area they saw three seals haul up on shore briefly. There was one little seal, one was ID'd as R3CX Nalu and other was an unknown adult. The three weren't happy so they left the area.
They saw that the little seal had left and was seen fighting with an adult seal who was RM31 Kai.
It was little RU12 who fought her way to the rocks and landed. RM31 followed her but as she landed he left. They noted RU12 has two white nails on right flipper.
Needless to say Team R&B are in heaven with this new generation of little ones are showing up. Makes it all the more fun to watch them.
It was somewhat of a challenge keeping up with all the activity. They watched as a seal was hauling out at rest camp side. They made their way over and found R3CX Nalu. Guess he was looking for some peace away from all the activity. Thankfully lifeguard put up some signs.
They spotted a seal from afar at Makaha. They headed over and found a person sleeping, so they kept their distance and saw the seal long enough to get an ID and photo. The seal was RP28 Wakea.
On their last stop they found big boy RL08. He was alone on the rocks and resting peacefully. There were some fishers to the right, but all seemed fine for the time being. Team R&B called it a day.
