I took a quick ride to Makai Pier this morning before an appointment. I spent just over an hour at the pier and upon arrival both Mom (RB12 Sadie) and PO4 were on Rabbit Island at Left Point Beach. They were both completely dry and hanging out at the shoreline.
Team Billand had a surprise this morning while checking some of the beaches on the Leeward side.
At one stop they spotted two seals foraging and fighting/playing with each other. They were able to ID Ka'ale RH32 right away, but wasn't sure about the other.
After a little bit of time they followed the seals and was able to get an ID RJ58, Kaimana. Talk about double trouble with these two. They watched the two until they disappeared in the open sea.
Just before noon Team Billand spotted Lei Ola RH48 at another westside location. She was resting on the rocks to the right alone and in peace. On their recheck, she had moved up on the rocks.
At 3:30 Team Billand went to guard rails and spotted a seal. Waves were washing over him they were able to ID Benny RE74. He entered the water and left so Team Billand followed on foot. He tried to haul out at Nani Kai, but there were too many people who followed him, then he went a little further and the people followed him there too. Benny left heading west with kids following him down the beach. Team Billand texted volunteer Melina letting her know Benny was heading her way.
