06/22/2022 Wednesday's Dailies

Todays dailies are brought to you by Marilyn, Gamma Gayle and Team R&B💕  A special note about Benny RE74. I am sure most of you have seen the social media post and local news that we have lost Da Benny.  Here is the link to NOAA's official announcement.
I am planning on posting a tribute to Benny with any and all your Benny stories. Please feel free to email me at  dabell50@gmail.com

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 1:05 to 3:05 and just the mom and pup pairs were on island during her observation.
Once again the Moms and Pups were not that far apart near the shoreline rock flats on LPB. MO7 and PO7 were in the most Lanikai position on LPB. They went toward a surge channel but then moved back onto the beach. Marilyn thinks PO7 did nurse for a short time when he was mostly hidden behind M07. PO7's belly was visible today but it was full of sand so no call on its gender.
MO6 and PO6 stayed mostly near the shoreline rock flats during her entire viewing session. PO6 had at least two nursing sessions.

Team R&B started their day at a west side location where they found Puka RP30. The kid was on lower
rocks, and there was some creepy dude nearby so they hung around for a bit. The dude left and Puka remained and was okay.
They noted he has a small wound on left fore flipper digit. Looks like a nail is missing, he didn't show any signs it bothered him.
On their recheck of the area Puka was still there, although he was having a little difficulty with the waves coming in.

Finally after hours of looking for seals they found two seals side by side on the rocks snoozing. It was RN14 Kalani and RL42 Leia. Seems these two are an item. And today RL42 look really big, but who knows if that means anything.

A late email from Gamma Gayle brought word that Kaiwi has begun her molt.  So I guess no pup for her this year.  Thank you Gayle.
