Seriously above and beyond going out there on a day like today.

They were out there in the rain and wasn't finding anything. Then they got a text from a woman who they met and she saw two seals and sent them a photo. It was N45 with a large seal with tags.

By the time they made it out with the rain and traffic they spotted one seal alone. There he was N45 fast asleep. He was not in his usual spot. Team R&B stayed for a little bit. 

Then they met up with a man they met last week that was heading to the beach. They told him of N45, and he said he would go and tell all the braddahs to leave the poor seal alone.

They left the area and did go back for a recheck. N45 was still on shore alone. It would be nice if hecould find a spot where people don't gather and no dogs to bug him. 

They were chatting with two guys who asked if they were taking photos of the small seal. They then told Team R&B they saw a huge seal and gave them the location. When Team R&B arrived they were surprised and thrilled to see RL42 Leia. She was doing her best to hide in the rocks.

Team R&B headed out to other spots to check. From afar they spotted an adult male on shore, but they couldn't tell who it was. As they were taking photos they saw

movement next to him There was another seal next to him but he was pretty much blocking it. He was reported as an Unknown Male and the other as an Unknown Adult.

Last stop at Kahe searching the area. They heard seals barking, vocalizing. They hurried to look over the seal was in the water and they really couldn't determine any  information. Reported as another Unknown Adult. 

It was time for them to go home and get dry!

February 20, 2026 Friday's Dailies

They started their day as they have searching for N45 aka Temp 402. When they arrived at their first stop they were thrilled to find both N45 with RU40 aka Wai. They were together sleeping in the morning. As the day went on first N45 moved down the beach and then U40 followed.  There was no action just snoozing.

N45 went to his little pond, head in the water, body on sand. U40 never entered the water, and it was overcast so it rained twice.

Team R&B put up the sticks to make a path for any visitors that might come. Over the five hours there were 25 people and one dog at the end.  Team R&B noted that N45 seems better although he's still skinny, but better. 

At another west side stop they found three seals.  First there was RH76 Kala resting on the rocks. This girl is looking mighty big! To her left was RW02 PvKauai.  They didn't know who the third seal was, other than it was smaller than both RW02 & Kala. They reported it as an Unknown Sub-adult.

And you just never know what Team R&B are going to come across on their journeys. Todays critter was an old goat high up on the rocks!

February 19, 2026 Thursday's Dailies

Marilyn viewed Rabbit Island from 12:23 to 1:26 and there were two seals seen during that time.

Initially near the SRI surge channel entrance was a Sub-adult Male: small sub-adult size, yellow male belly and two red tags. Later the SM moved up the cliff.

Far out on RRB was a Sub-adult Unknown: sub-adult size, older coat, two red tags and no info on sex.

Team R&B started their day finding N45 aka Temp 402. He was alone and fast asleep. After about 45

minutes went by on this windy day, they prepared the sticks to set up a zone. N45 woke up and something caught his attention. He scurried out on the sand.  Much to Team R&B's surprise there was another seal sleeping up near the rocks.  It was RU40 and the two of them stayed together for the day.

A volunteer came out for about an hour, no signs were put up, just the sticks Team R&B set up. At the end of the day the two were together until people had to walk by. TU40 wasn't happy, he scurried right and left, barking making his way to the water.  

N45 stayed by the wall for the night.

After checking the area they found another seal. IT was RS32 , she was resting on shore. She was in the company of a little little turtle.

The only other sighting was a seal foraging off the outfall. They didn't have enough to go on for an ID so it was reported as an Unknown Adult.

February 18, 2026 Wednesday's Dailies

I'll start by saying they had quite a day. 

They started out heading over to find Temp 402. When they arrived to the area their first find was RG28 Lefty. He was alone on shore. They were able to get a look at his wound that he got a couple of weeks ago. Its large but healing up, and he seems okay.

Then they heard snorts and see tow more seals coming in. The beach is small, so to have the three seals together was a sight! RG28 was snoring until the two "punks" arrived, RM31 Kai and RS32 came in and went up to RG28. They all faced each other, rolled around, RS32 nuzzled RG28, such a sweet little one.

After a lot of words, all three went into the water heading in Honolulu direction.

Team R&B hung out for a while and then spotted another little seal coming in. The seal was RU12, she landed and went all the way up on the rocks to the left. One wonders why she went up so high, seems she might be hiding.  Well, here comes RG28 Lefty returning. RU12 saw him and immediately went down the rocks. Very carefully since its a five foot drop. She galumphed over to RG28.

Still in the area Team R&B went checking hoping to find Temp 402. Thankfully they spotted him from afar. They called him in and NOAA came out to observe and apply a N45 bleach. It was the first time Team R&B heard Temp 402 make a sound. They noted he's got volume and a very low sounding voice.

Now he can be easily spotted.  Team R&B stayed for a while even after NOAA was done. Then N45 moved up the beach probably to settle in.  They decided to head out.

If that wasn't enough excitement for the day, they made one more stop at another west side beach.

There were four seals, but as they were getting to the area the seals were departing. 

They were able to ID RH76 and RW02 PvKauai. But the others remain a mystery.
