10/18/18 Monk Seal Dailies: (part 2) Lesley's Ka'ena Update

Two Days:
Yesterday morning I found an overnighted R303 “BG” in front of our beach path / CE side.
We were busy all day and didn’t have time to go check on her again.

This morning we attended a cool presentation from Irene NOAA Turtles for our volunteers and staff. Then Team Tammy & Dave an I headed out to the Point for some monitoring.
Seemed like and eternity last time we went out together.

We had a cool surprise at the point to find RH48 “Lei Ola” and RO40 “Ka’ena” hauled out on the pebble Main Beach. Calls were done to check if NOAA could make it out. Unfortunately, little missy decided to enter the pool, so we called it off. Hopefully she’ll be there tomorrow, and that hook could be removed.
I like to insure everyone that she’s looking good, there’s no swelling or nothing wrong where the hook is. She’s acting normally and doesn’t seemed bothered by it.

On Back Beach RR70 “RIP” was hauled out sleeping peacefully.

There's a new project out in the NARS for the endangered species: "Hawaiian Yellow Faced Bees" - Some totems called blocks have been put up as nests for them.

Back out of the gate I went down to check the front and found RN58 “Luana” and little niece RK40 “Napua” side by side. They spent the day there and were still there when I checked at sunset.
